Ο Ben Dockett απενεργοποιεί το X μετά τα σχόλια του Bomra να φωτίζουν τις πολεμικές, υπερασπίζοντας τη θέση τους, ενώ τα κοινωνικά δίκτυα επικρίνονται.
England’s opener Ben Duckett has reportedly deactivated his X account (formerly Twitter) after his comments on Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah caused a stir. He mentioned that having faced Bumrah before, he knows what to expect when England hosts India for a five-match Test series later this year.
Facing the challenge
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Duckett acknowledged Bumrah’s abilities and also praised Mohammed Shami. He stated, “I’ve faced him in a five-Test series before. I know his skills, and there’s nothing that surprises me. It’s challenging, but there are runs to be had if I get past his opening spell.”
Duckett defended his remarks, stressing he never claimed he would perform exceptionally against Bumrah. He advised users criticising him online to read the article thoroughly. Screenshots of his replies are circulating on social media since he deactivated his account.
Previous encounter with Bumrah
Duckett was dismissed by Bumrah during England’s Test tour of India in January last year. Bumrah played an important role in India’s 4-1 victory, taking 19 wickets. Duckett also pointed out that while India is tough to beat team at home, they aren’t as strong on foreign tours. “India at home is very different to India away. It’s a side I feel we should beat,” he added.
