Kolkata Knight Riders have been dealt with a potential blow as South African pacer Anrich Nortje has suffered a fractured toe. The bowler, who was picked up by IPL 2024 defending champions for Rs 6.50 cr, has been ruled out of SA’s upcoming ODI series and the remainder of T20Is against Pakistan. This is the second time in 15 months that the pacer has suffered an injury.
Anrich Nortje blow for KKR ahead of IPL 2025?
As per reports, Anrich Nortje is has been ruled out of the remainder of T20Is and ODIs against Pakistan after fracturing his big toe on his left foot. He was left out of the opening game following which scans confirmed the fracture. He is now expected to consult an orthopedic to determine his recovery time. Dayyaan Galiem has been named as his replacement for the remaining two T20Is.
Nortje’s injury is a cause for concern for KKR, who do not have any experienced pacer – both Indian or overseas – in their squad. The likes of Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Spencer Johnson and Umran Malik are relatively inexperienced in comparison with the South African pacer. Nortje completed his move from DC to KKR after he was released by the former ahead of IPL 2025 auction.
