Ο Devajit Saiky εξελέγη Επίτιμος Γραμματέας του Συμβουλίου για τον έλεγχο του Cryct στην Ινδία (BCCI) στις 12 Ιανουαρίου 2025.
Ever since Jay Shah has left his role at BCCI to become the new chairman at the International Cricket Council (ICC), there have been a lot of shuffling going on. Now, Rohan Desai of Goa is expected to be named the new joint secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The BCCI’s power dynamics are changing as a result of the board’s continued practice of selecting office bearers from less well-known cricketing states.
BCCI to appoint new joint-secretary
The appointment of Desai follows the recent elevation of Devajit Saikia as the BCCI secretary after Jay Shah took on a new role as the ICC chairman. Saikia, originally the joint secretary, was promoted earlier this year alongside Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, who was elected as the treasurer. With the joint secretary’s post left vacant, the BCCI has now finalized Desai’s name for the position. This is according to the Cricblogger. We told you earlier that the BCCI has a Special General Meeting (SGM) in Mumbai on March 1 to elect a new joint secretary.
Sources indicate that multiple candidates from the West Zone were under consideration, leading to intense lobbying before Desai’s selection. Desai, who currently serves as the secretary of the Goa Cricket Association, is expected to assume office as the BCCI joint secretary from March 1, 2025.
