India cricket team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has credited domestic cricket for helping him return to ODIs. The southpaw has been phenomenal with the ball in the ongoing IND vs ENG ODI series, bagging 6 wickets in two games. Jadeja last played an ODI in the ODI World Cup final in 2023. Since then, he has only played Tests and T20Is at the international level. However, right before the IND vs ENG series, he took part in two Ranji Trophy matches for Saurashtra, which helped him get in the groove for the 50-over format.

Jadeja reveals “domestic cricket” help for his ODI return
Speaking to reporters after IND vs ENG 2nd ODI, Jadeja told reporters that playing domestic cricket helped him get used to ODIs, especially since he was returning after a gap of 1.5 years. The southpaw revealed that bowling 30-odd overs in Ranji Trophy helped him with consistency in his rhythm.
“I’m playing for the first time in almost two years after the World Cup final. I have to get used to this format. I think the domestic game helped me a lot. Be it in the Test match or in the ODIs, I try and bowl the same line and length. There was a continuity in the rhythm because the break wasn’t that long. I think the domestic game helped me a lot,” Jadeja said.

Speaking about ICC Champions Trophy, Jadeja noted that India’s spin department was doing well currently. Jaddu, along with Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, will spearhead the spin unit in the marquee tournament. He pointed out that the pacers and spinners working in tandem was a good sign for the team ahead of the tournament.
“In the middle overs with five fielders inside, if you are taking wickets, stopping the run flow and is not giving easy boundaries, it’s good. I think it’s for the team if fast bowlers and spinners are bowling as a unit, it’s a good sign for the team. We’re doing well collectively in every game,” Jadeja added.
In the first game of Ranji Trophy second leg against Delhi, Jadeja finished with 12 wickets to his name. This included a five-wicket haul in the 1st innings and a 7-wicket haul in the 2nd. He did not bowl in the game against Assam, presumably because the team wanted him to rest before the ODIs.
